Sandra Rivera – Hoy se ha hecho publico el programa completo del Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival, el cual tendrá lugar del 30 de diciembre al 1 de enero y se espera que atraiga a miles de visitantes de todo el mundo.
La Torchlight Procession del martes 30 de diciembre marca el inicio de las actividades. Unos 8.000 portadores de antorchas comenzarán el recorrido en George IV Bridge y finalizarán en Calton Hill, con un espectáculos de fuegos artificiales visible desde diferentes puntos de la ciudad. Las antorchas deben adquirirse de forma anticipada a un precio de 10 libras. El dinero recaudado de su venta irá destinado a la asociación Erskine, aprovechando la conmemoración del centenario del inicio de la Primera Guerra Mundial.

El Concert in the Gardens, los conciertos en los jardines de Princes Street, son el evento más destacado de la noche de Fin de Año. El grupo tributo a ABBA Björn Again será el primero en salir al escenario, seguido de Soul II Soul y Lily Allen.
Paralelamente a los conciertos, en la Street Party, se ofrece la oportunidad de viajar en el tiempo a través de la música gracias a la Hot Dub Time Machine. Además, varios conciertos tendrán lugar en los diferentes escenarios del centro. El Waverley Stage, acogerá a los grupos escoceses Twin Atlantic, Young Fathers y The Twilight Sad. En el Scottish Stage, actuará el cantautor Eddi Reader junto a Breabach y Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson. The Smashers, Hugh MacDiarmid’s Haircut y The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience serán las bandas encargadas de la Keilidh en el Moud.
Aunque habrá fuegos artificiales a las 9, 10 y 11 de la noche, el gran espectáculo pirotécnico, desde el Edinburgh Castle y Calton Hill, será a medianoche. Como marca la tradición, al finalizar, se cantará Auld Lang Syne.
Los espectáculos programados para la noche de Fin de Año empezarán a las 9 de la noche y finalizarán sobre la una de la madrugada, Aun así, la apertura de puertas del recinto será a las 7 de la tarde. Se habilitará un servició gratuito de autobuses que conectará el centro de la ciudad con las diferentes barrios de Edimburgo y áreas de Lothians.
Debido al éxito de la pasada edición, el Scot:Lands vuelve el día de Año Nuevo. Se trata de un recorrido por 11 puntos diferentes del Old Town, tanto edificios como espacios al aire libre, en donde tienen lugar diversas muestras de arte, teatro y música. Aunque es una actividad gratuita, es necesario registrarse previamente para poder participar.
El día 1 de enero, como ya es habitual, también tiene lugar el Queensferry Loony Dook, un baño para valientes en las aguas del río Forth.
Las entradas para los diferentes eventos ya están a la venta, incluidas las de la Street Party con descuento de residente (a la venta hasta el 28 de noviembre).
The full program of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival has been made public today, which will run from 30th December to 1st January and it expects to attract thousands of visitors from around the world.
The Torchlight Procession onTuesday 30th December marks the beginning of the activities. Around 8,000 torchbearers will begin the procession at George IV Bridge and they will end on Calton Hill with a fireworks show that will be visible from different parts of the city. The torches must be purchased in advance for £10. The money raised from their sale will go to Erskine as a commemoration of the centenary of the beginning of the World War I.
The Concert in the Gardens is the highlight of New Year’s Eve. The ABBA tribute band Björn Again will be the first group on the stage, followed by Soul II Soul and Lily Allen.
Alongside the concert, the Street Party will offer the opportunity to travel back in time through music with Hot Dub Time Machine. Several concerts will take place at different stages throughout the city centre. The Waverley Stage will host the Scottish groups Twin Atlantic, Young Fathers and The Twilight Sad. On the Scottish Stage, the songwriter Eddi Reader will play with special guest Breabach and Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson. The Smashers, Hugh MacDiarmid’s Haircut and The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience are on the lineup for the Keilidh on the Mound.
Although there will be fireworks at 9pm, 10pm and 11pm, the big fireworks show from the Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill will of course be at midnight. As a tradition, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ will be sung at the end.
The different shows for Hogmanay will begin at 9pm and they will finish around 1am but the door opening time will be at 7pm. A free bus service will connect the city centre with the different neighbourhoods in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Due to the success of last year, the Scot:Lands returns on New Year’s Day. It is a journey through 11 different spots of the Old Town, buildings and outdoor spaces, where art, theatre and music exhibitions will take place. Although it is a free activity, prior registration is required to participate.
On 1st January, as usual, the bath for brave people in the Firth of Forth, the Queensferry Loony Dook also takes place.
Tickets for the different events are now on sale, including the Street Party tickets with resident discount (available until 28th November).
